5w5d Ultrasound

One baby, measuring 5w5d which is where I am today exactly. Very visible heart beat, but there is a bit of concern because it only seemed to measure at 90-100 beats, and the doctor wants to see it get to 120 so I have to schedule another ultrasound next week to measure the heartbeat again.

The bad news is, THE SICKNESS SUCKS. Hard. I have been feeling icky off and on for the last couple of days, but today I spent a good part of the morning feeling just miserable with bouts of nausea happening every 2 hours or so throughout the afternoon. I'm trying to figure out a pattern and eat right before I'm scheduled to start feeling icky and so far it's helping I think. I managed to get quite a bit done at the office today and no one important seemed to notice when I was feeling bad. I had a small loveseat moved into my office so I can close my door (and pray no one comes in) and relax a little. My mom laughed at this, which I don't really see what's so funny. If I have the space and the available furniture, then why not?

Tomorrow morning I'm going to try popping a pepto bismol pill first thing when I get up and eat a granola bar or something. Maybe that will help.

And the picture:

  1. Wonderful! It's early to see the heart beat at all, isn't it? Hopefully next week it will measure nice and strong!!! Sorry you're feeling icky...

  2. Congrats! That's a cute little bean! That sounds like a decent heartbeat for that early - lots of people can't even see one at that point.

As for the sickness - it sucks, doesn't it! Safe over the counter stuff to take is Zantac (twice a day, before getting out of bed, and then before supper) and less drowsy dramamine, also before getting out of bed, then again in the evening if needed. B6, 50 mg at bedtime is good, too. My OB said not to take Pepto - you might want to check with yours before having any.

  3. wow, pretty u/s and that is a super strong singleton you have there! Don't worry about the h/b, its slow when its just started up, it will catch up soon.

Sorry about the nausea, I'm having way more of that this time around too. The crappy thing with that is, the minute it disappears you get worried, and of course, you are not happy when its in full swing either!

  4. You do get used to the nausea. I have two big triggers - motion like a fuzzy video or scrolling fast on the computer. The other trigger is being hungry which sucks when you don;t want to eat anything. I agree with Jay about morning sickness. I find mine comforting now although it was awful the first month. Hope it gets easier soon.

  5. The sick really does suck! It really does help to stay ahead of getting hungry.

  6. Yeah for Baby! Definitely think about taking B6...it made a big difference for me. It's good if you figure out your pattern as it makes it easier to treat...I found I had to (& still have to) eat as soon as I wake up.

  8. Love the pic!! From what I understand, your little one's heart rate is right on target for its gestational age.

I hear you on the icky nausea! Definitely eating before you get hungry helps. I'm also going to take Shannon's advice and start taking some B6. Oh how I wish I had a love seat to relax on.... so jealous!!

  10. Congratulations! I've heard that keeping a pack of saltines by the bed and eating a few if you wake up in the night (and when you wake up in the morning) can help.
